Modern heating furnaces are highly mechanized units that meet technological and environmental requirements. The most important factor is the efficient use of fuel. The requirement of efficient use of fuel and other resources comes to the fore during the design of furnaces, i.e. the problem of energy and resource conservation. Accordingly, the task is to reduce heat loss from the working space of the furnace due to the lining to the environment, as well as to heat the lining to the working temperature. Heat losses from the working space are especially significant in heating and thermal furnaces of cyclic action. The lining of such furnaces, made of fireclay bricks, absorbs approximately 3 times more heat than a metal cage. Reducing the amount of heat needed to heat up the lining is achieved by replacing fireclay refractories with multi-silica fibrous materials.
Example of a separate unit. As a result of replacing the fireclay lining with light, low-heat fibrous materials, the weight of the lining decreases from 76.5 to 10.5 tons, the heat absorption by the lining during heating will decrease from 43,000 MJ to 4,700 MJ, i.e. 9 times. The specific consumption of conventional fuel per cycle is reduced from 220 to 73 kg.usl.t/t, the fuel saving is 67%, the furnace efficiency will be increased from 12 to 36%. In walk-through furnaces with stepping beams, thanks to the use of fibrous materials for thermal insulation of walls and water-cooled beams in combination with a concrete shell, heat loss from the working space is reduced to 3-5% of the furnace's thermal capacity.
