Asbestos cardboard KAON

General-purpose asbestos board (GAB) is made from chrysotile asbestos fiber with the addition of a small amount of binder (starch).

Asbestos is a natural variety of hydrosilicates that are easily split into thin, strong fibers, which are crystals of a roll or tubular structure. They have good dielectric properties.

Field of application

General-purpose asbestos cardboard (KAON-1) is used as:

• fireproof material;
• thermal insulation material;
• for sealing connections of devices, equipment and communications.

They produce cardboard of two brands:

• КАОН-1 — for thermal insulation at the temperature of the insulating surface. 500°C;
• КАОН-2 - for sealing connections of devices, equipment and communications operating at the limit pressure of the environment 0, 6 MPa and the maximum temperature of the environment, oC: gases - 500 ° C; alkaline - 200 ° C; inorganic acids, except hydrofluoric acid 120°C; solutions and melts of salts at 400°C.

Asbestos cardboard is a dense, wet pressed chrysotile asbestos. Due to its unique characteristics and high operational properties, the product is used to seal the connection of device elements, as well as as thermal insulation and fire protection. Asbestos cardboard (KAON) is non-combustible, so it is often used for effective protection of flammable materials, such as wooden structures.
